Gold or platinum? Two noble metals compared

Gold or platinum? Two noble metals compared

A question we hear almost every day: is platinum worth the difference, or is gold the better choice? As with everything bespoke, the answer depends on the person who will wear it.

Gold is warm, malleable and comes in yellow, white and rose. Fourteen-karat gold is harder for daily wear; eighteen-karat gold offers richer colour and higher intrinsic value. White gold is rhodium plated and needs renewal over time.

Platinum is denser, heavier and naturally white. When scratched, material is displaced rather than removed, creating a fine patina valued by goldsmiths. It is also hypoallergenic.

A wedding band is worn for decades. Choose its metal for generations.

For engagement rings and wedding bands worn daily, platinum is an investment in endurance. Gold gives coloured gemstones warmth and character. When the answer is not obvious, that is precisely what the atelier consultation is for.
